Army Medic, Corporal Charlie Harrison had two working lower legs until she stepped on an IED while on patrol in Afghanistan and flown home in an enforced coma that lasts for six months. On waking from it, she finds her world, as she knew it, no longer exists. Her sex-mad girlfriend, Rosie, abandons her, believing her to, now be a cripple, while her father buys her a house next door to Emma Graham, who has gained five stone in weight and no longer leaves her house, after the loss of her girlfriend, Andi, in a freak accident. Neither want to face the world again, and have their own reasons for retreating from it, but a strange turn of events has brought them together and continues to do so, until Charlie tries to take her own life and Emma is compelled, by unknown forces, to stop her, only to see her committed to a psychiatric hospital for mental health problems caused by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Devastated that she is responsible for her confinement, Emma is determined to get her released from the hospital and manages to succeed in doing so, providing she is willing to take care of her. Thrown together by cosmic forces, will they survive, or continue to pursue their self-imposed lonely existence?
