James a sombre widow having no wish to re-marry. Lucy, fell in love with James when they first met five years earlier. They'd last met at a family Christmas one year ago. Only for Lucy to find herself rejected by James following a kiss beneath mistletoe. James regarding Lucy as an beautiful but impressionable young girl. Now they were to meet again! Lucy was delighted to learn she could look forward to spending a family Christmas once again, this time in James' home. James, however was not happy with the idea of having Lucy included in the party. Circumstances would change everything, when a tragic accident robbed James of his young brother, and Lucy of her elder sister, and three young children orphaned.
