The Gibraltar Incident
Cranley Harding
SIS(6) agent Scott Rutherford alighted travel weary from the SaroA27 flying boat after a bruising eighteen hour flight from Gibraltar. However, whilst aboard his flight, security at the Royal Navy dockyard in Gibraltar had been breached. There had been an unsuccessful limpet mine attack on HMS Worcester. Three hours later he found himself on board aircraft carrier HMS Eagle bound for Gibraltar at the express wish of Sir James McKay VC, head of Secret Intelligence Service (6). He was to rendezvous with agent in place, the half-French beauty Yvonne Rencoule. They had worked together before, albeit tempestuously. She thought of him as possibly just fractionally the right side of being unbalanced. He thought of her as attractive and intelligent but only suitable for liaison work. By the time he arrived in Gibraltar she had disappeared.
