The Journey

The Journey takes place during the last hours of an elderly womans life. As she drifts in and out of consciousness, she relives a twenty-seven year search for her lost lover. Moving between past and present and crossing into the afterworld, the novel recreates in simple, lyrical prose a stunning love affair between two middle aged, married people. When David Hamilton, a fifty-one year old artist and loner spots Laura Williams, a quietly desperate forty year old wife and mother, a connection is made that will haunt them both forever. The Journey explores the boundaries of erotic love, spiritual love, maternal love, guilt, empathy and responsibility. It touches upon the struggle between sexuality, aging and illness, enlarging our understanding of the bodys hunger for continuance and connection.
