Life Crispies...come Taste and See Reality Poetry
Sharon Falloon
Life Crispies?come taste and see reality poetry, attempts to bridge the gap between the enthusiasts of deep poetry and the person who wants to be entertained on a less complicated level. As such, it is a unique collection of poems that explores reality television, real life stories and stories based on real life situations and the Bible. It is written as simple poetry with interesting characters and characterizations; some poems are satirical; others are the result of true stories and personal experiences; and, some are inspirational, whimsical and hopefully funny. The collection is divided into five sections: Crunchibles; Reality Bites; Introspection; Life Hurts But I Rise; and, Only Human. Section 1 ? Crunchibles: includes a look at current events and topics of interest such as television and its evolution to reality programming; the Bible story of the Queens Vashti and Esther; a short history about reggae music; and, the recent Sandy storm that took place in New York. Section 2 ? Reality Bites: addresses topics such as death; miracles; freedom; and, hope in the midst of disasters we?ve faced. Section 3 ? Introspection: provides an interesting perspective from a Jamaican woman who unwillingly leaves her native land and migrates to America over thirty years ago. Section 4 ? Life Hurts but I Rise: tackles the hard issues of life that are inevitable but must be dealt with, and gives inspiration as to how to get beyond them and thrive. Section 5 ? Only Human: talks about our strengths and weaknesses as human beings and since nobody is perfect, it offers an insight into how we should build our character by being courageous, having faith and striving to improve the world in which we live. The collection tackles just about every aspect of a living society and includes the following: Drugs, tattoos, television shows, music, popularity, fruit, china, storms, passion, death, ugliness, dreams, privilege, our first black president, motherhood, freedom, mixed martial art, gun control, spirit, faith, miracles, patience, courage, destiny, friendship, prayer, hoarding, unrequited love, the Creation, agoraphobia, genocide, aging, flatulence, jealously, sickness and love.
