The Time Capsule

Anthony (Tony) Richetelli accidentally, kills his sister-in-law; he panics, and hides her body. He did not realize that his older brother Vincent would be accused, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife. Tony is in the US Army. But, before going overseas, he marries the girl next door, changes his last name to Ritchie, and adopts his brother's infant son. When WWII begins, he is in the Philippines, and is captured by the Japanese. Tony survives the Bataan Death March as well as the prison camps - he is a war hero. Guilt has haunted him most of his adult life. He is driven to confess his crime after 30 years, when questioned by his adopted son, John. Tony goes to the authorities to clear his conscience and his brother's name, and to take his punishment.
