Moscow 1959

Moscow 1959: A Week with Dad behind the Iron Curtain. Considered evil and dangerous by her mother, Barb's mom finally agrees to let her daughter travel to the U. S. S. R. with her eccentric, rule-breaking father. Before she knows it, Barb is behind the Iron Curtain. In Vienna, the week before flying to Moscow, Barb, her sister, mom, and dad are caught up in the riots and demonstrations of a Communist Youth Festival. As if this wasn't enough, they then drive to see the "real" Iron Curtain along the Hungarian/Austrian border. The next week Barb's dad, Karl, is threatened by anti-capitalists, aids mistreated Americans and sneaks into the room of two anti-communist Hungarians. Followed every step of the way by a disapproving, government-issued tour guide, Karl and Barb's Moscow adventure ends with Karl winning over the guide with his American stubbornness and charm and Barb has a romantic encounter with a handsome Ukrainian!
