Indian Boyhood
Ohiyesa (Charles A. Eastman)
Charles Eastman was a physician and writer who helped found the Boy Scouts. His life with an Indian mother taught him the culture of the American Indian. In this book Eastman, a Santee Sioux Indian, talks about his childhood as an Indian and his training as a warrior. At age 15 Eastman left his culture and all that he knew to begin life in the white man's world.
