In the light of person environment fit theory it is assumed that it is the fit between the abilities and motivations of the individual on the one hand and the demands and expectations of the environment on the other, which determines the academic achievement of a young adolescent. The present study gives us an insight into the variables leading to this misfit/ fit between individual characteristics and his or her environment. The results of the study can be useful for parents, teachers, guidance counselors and educational planners.
