Sudoku - Food for the Mind

Sudoku puzzles are done mainly in Japan where not many crosswords are done. The name 'Sudoku' roughly translates as 'Number Place'. A simpler version was created by a Swiss mathematician in the 18th century and today's puzzles are thought to have evolved from that. The first puzzle in the UK appeared on the front page of 'The Times' on the 12th November 2004 and they have, since then, appeared daily on the back page. Today, however, they appear everywhere, in books papers and magazines.
