Functional Materials from Carbon, Inorganic, and Organic Sources: Methods and Advances - Woodhead Publishing Series in Electronic and Optical Materials
Sanjay J. Dhoble
Functional Materials from Carbon, Inorganic and Organic Sources describes the basic principles, mechanisms and theoretical background of functional materials. Functional materials cover a wide range of inorganic and organic materials. Materials discussed include graphene, graphene oxide, oxides materials, nanocomposites, biomaterials and more. There is special attention paid throughout to the synthesis processes and characterization methods used to create and analyze functional materials.
This book is divided into three sections (I) Carbon-based functional materials, (II) Inorganic functional materials for renewable and sustainable energy applications and (III) Organic and biological based functional materials. Carbon materials are promising materials for technological applications such as energy storage and conversion, electronic and photonics devices as well as applications in medicine. Therefore the first section of the book is dedicated to carbon based nanoparticles so that the theoretical and experimental mechanism of synthesis and uses of carbon-based materials can be understood. The second section of the book is dedicated to sustainable energy applications of functional materials such as photovoltaic devices, light emitting devices, energy storage materials and quantum dot devices. This section focuses on high-performance materials in the field of sustainable energy which covers solar cell fundamentals and devices, light emitting devices, perovskite materials and ceramic thin films and their applications. The last section is devoted to organic and biological based functional materials. The chapters in this section emphasize green or biological approaches to the synthesis semiconductor nanoparticles, quinolone complexes and their applications, biomaterials and biopolymers.
Functional materials from carbon, inorganic and organic sources is suitable for researchers and practitioners in the disciplines of materials science, physical science and chemistry.
