On the 28th of February 2020, New Zealand has its first confirmed case of Covid-19. By the 26th of March, the country had gone into one of the strictest lockdowns in the world. As other countries tried to keep their economies going alongside trying to quell the deadly virus, the economy in New Zealand completely shut down as five-million New Zealanders were told to stay at home. This helped to eventually eliminate Covid-19 in New Zealand.
