Getting It is a fantasy involving a handful of high-school students. Fourteen-year-old Bobby Baines (Class of 2009) reaches deep within to find his strengths, as an entity that lives in a book, the disembodied sage, "It," becomes ally, friend and tutor. The dialogue between It and his master, Bobby, contrasts the difference between clouded and hip. Bobby and his friends find their way to court, having been accused of inserting a malicious program, a Trojan Horse, into a CIA mainframe and in the process uncovering a secret plot to kidnap a Nobel laureate candidate. "It" figures prominently in their struggle against the CIA's ill-conceived scheme.
