Poems of Life
Charles Harrison
These poems were written by a retiredphysician who had never had anyexperience as a professional writer. Hehad always had a love of poetry, but didn'thave the time to pursue this endeavor. Helearned early on that he had an aptitudefor poetic writing. He was encouraged byhis wife and many close friends who readsome of his first poems. These poemscover a large range of events which couldbe encountered in life. The poems areencompassing enough that people frommany cultural and ethnic backgroundsshould be able to find them quiteinteresting. They are not based in totalityon any specific occurrences which theauthor encountered. His life as an Afro-American, growing up in the South duringthe era of Segregation and during theGreat Depression did have a greatinfluence on his writing.
