It is near the end of the first quarter of the 21th century. The war on terror is over and there is peace all over the globe. A seven year peace treaty has been signed between Israel and the Arab states which has erased a sore spot for conflict that existed over seventy years. Oil is still king by default for the world's main choice as an energy source. The public has lost confidence in nuclear power because of several unexpected reactor disasters that stopped the construction of more reactors. In addition the limited ability of the so called green alternatives to produce cheap, abundant, dependable energy has finally made one thing clear. While the use of oil may not be good for the environment, it is still the most cost efficient and reliable power source available. Amazingly and unexpectedly a huge new source of oil is found which breaks the back of OPEC ending their monopoly on oil and its price. Cheap abundant fuel has ushered in a huge new wave of economic growth. Peace, prosperity and security are now everywhere, except for a few trouble spots. Most of the world is prosperous, happy, secure and at ease. But, unknown to the world Dr. Carl Peterson's obsessive quest for a fantastic machine of legion is about to bear fruit. A sweeping worldwide drama of desperation and intrigue is about to unfold as a result of his actions, which will involve many countries and players. The unexpected results of his actions lead an unsuspecting world to the edge of an inconceivable abyss. As chaos and destruction sweep across the world the battle is fought in the air, on sea and land. Despite all of mankind's latest technology and frantic maneuvering in the halls of power around the globe, the world finds itself on a precarious perch. It is a perch from which the planet may not be able to prevent its plunge. The human race ultimately finds itself in a battle for what it considers its very survival, while the whole world watches live on satellite television.
