There is much detail in this book about child rearing, how to live a good marriage, how to run a household in the face of unusual challenges and how to work around disabilities, but it is managed with such a light hand and woven so seamlessly into the narrative that the reader absorbs it without effort. It is difficult to write inspring material and relate good news wrested from difficult setbacks without falling into cliche, self pity and perhaps smug self appreciation, but she has managed to avoid all these quagmires admirably. Anyone who is interested in survival stories, love stories, or who would like to belong to a large and loving family for a while will greatly enjoy this book.
