The Poetry Brothel
In a large sense, The Poetry Society of New York?s ?Translation Project? is an ongoing effort to bring the works of contemporary poets, living and working in diverse cultures, to a broader and multi-lingual audience. Begun in March 2010, the inaugural phase of the project paired poets from The Poetry Brothel in New York City and Prostibulo Poetico in Barcelona to translate each other?s new and original work on a monthly basis. The Translation Project: Volume I is a selected anthology of the poems that were produced. With the spread of Poetry Brothels to other cities across the globe?Montreal, Hanoi, Madrid, Maracaibo? The Poetry Society of New York will expand its translation work to encompass an ever-increasing number of languages and cultures in years to come
