Darla Rune is an outcast and survivor in a post-apocalyptic society where most outcasts die from starvation, poisoned air or ferocious mutant beasts.  Because of her peculiar ability to re-envision ancient technology, she's managed to beat the staggering odds.  She spends most of her time outside Central City in the Boneyard--an outlawed technology dump that's protected by Yardmen.  These deviant protectors kill anything living that enters their yard, and up to now, Darla had managed to avoid them, until a dumb-ass solider givers her location away...

Torn from her semi-safe life, she's thrown into a cloak-and-dagger world with weird messages and omens of the future coming at her from very unlikely sources.  She finds herself helping warrior brothers in tracking down an evil dictator to stop him from destroying the last hope for human life on earth.  EITHER SHE SUCCEEDS OR THE PLANET LOSES.
