Remember remember the fifth of November. Gunpowder, treason, and plot...1901 The queen is dead. Edmond Holmes, second born son of Sherlock Holmes has been enlisted by his Uncle Mycroft to protect the English king and prince at all costs. After a four-month tour with his majesty, Edward VII, Edmond is commissioned with yet another task. Someone is leaving anonymous notes hinting at a well-known nursery rhyme, and the prince and heir to the throne must be protected. With The Season approaching and the requirements bestowed on the prince, Edmond is commissioned to be the prince's shadow without revealing to the public why he is there in the first place. The plan is to exchange Edmond's favored unfashionable wardrobe with the height of fashionable attire, and turn the quiet, observant, and understated man into the peacock of High Society in order to be with the prince at the necessary times. With a threat on their lives, and mysterious notes hinting at a Guy Fawkes-like plot, Edmond has his work cut out for him and cannot afford to have his head turned by the beautiful but mysterious Lady Arabella, Duchess of Berkley, personal companion to the princess. Calling on his family for assistance when more than one body is discovered, the Holmeses navigate through the muck and mire of the new century and the turbulent times between the death of the queen and the coronation of the new king.
