Oil and Sheikhs A Desert Tale is a fast-paced thriller and is the third book in the Arabian Gulf series. The first two books are entitled Hawks and Doves An Arabian Tale and Pearls and Princes A Tale of the Gulf. The action takes place in Saudi Arabia, The Yemen, Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Hungary, Slovakia, The Netherlands, the USA and the UK. Russian criminals are seeking to influence the price of oil on international markets. The kidnap of the son of the Saudi Arabian Oil Minister in Budapest is used as a lever to try to force the Saudi Arabian delegation to OPEC to recommend a cut in oil production and drive up the price. A suicide bombing in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, terrorist attacks both on the Yanbu oil terminal in the west of Saudi Arabia and on the Dammam No.7 Prosperity Well in the east of the country and missile attacks on Riyadh, all add to the action that ensues.
