Ironpower Publishing
Ironpower Publishing has combined five classic violin method study books into one great value book. These original books have been a staple of violin teachers and their students for around a century. Because these books are often used together we thought it made great sense to pack them into one complete money saving volume. Instead of having to purchase the 5 books separately you now have the convenience and economy of them all being in the same book.
The books contained are by Heinrich Ernst Kayser and Henry Schradieck: - KAYSER 36 Elementary and Progressive Violin Studies (Etudes), Op. 20 (Complete) SCHRADIECK The School of Violin Technics: -
Book 1: Exercises for Promoting Dexterity in the Various Positions
Book 2: Exercises in Double Stops
Book 3: Exercises in Various Bowing SCHRADIECK Complete Scale Studies
KAYSER's book 36 Elementary and Progressive Violin Studies, Op. 20 (Complete) was actually originally 3 books and all thirty-six studies have been combined here. It's no wonder generations of violin teachers have loved these teachings for so long. Even their very young level students get very much involved in these studies. They help strengthen both the note-reading and bowing very fast.
It's an ideal starting book for beginners giving them a good variety of position-shifts and basic fingerings.
Born in Hamburg in 1846, Henry SCHRADIECK made his first public appearance at the age of six. He studied at Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he gained first prize. Later he went to Moscow as Professor of the violin. He taught at the College of Music of Cincinnati, the Hamburg Conservatory, and later taught in New York City and Philadelphia. In addition to writing pedagogic material for the violin in the way of the studies and finger exercises in this book, he earned the reputation of being one of the foremost violin teachers of the day. Schradieck's notable students include Ottokar Novacek, Norman Black, and Theodore Spiering.
As well as being a master teacher, Schradieck was a master player (faculty peers considered him to have attained flawless, perfect violin technique). His teachings in this book are not music they are drills that will make you play better...fast. Start your warm up with these exercises and your playing and intonation will drastically improve in a short space of time. The lessons are concise and will give life to your playing.
You will never outgrow the teachings, they will last you a lifetime of learning. Each drill can be learned in every key, and then change the bowings and repeat so the learning potential is near unlimited. When utilized on a regular basis, the lessons can take you step by step from where you currently are to levels of intonation and control that may seem unimaginable at the present time.
The compilation of the 5 complete books is comprised of scans of pre-1923 sheet music by various music publishers. Overall it's a warts and all (although we have cleaned up and digitally enhanced as much as possible) reproduction of some very old manuscripts so there are some minor printing imperfections owing to the age and quality of these original manuscripts.
