Compulsion

This is the story of a man who for various reasons, finds himself stalking the 'ladies of the night.' He's new to the game of picking up a 'date, ' and has some early setbacks. When he finally finds the right girl, she insults him, and in a fit of rage, he kills her. He disposes her body but collects 'souvenirs' along the way. Initially upset with himself, he vows never to enter the area that he calls 'the Zone' again but he soon discovers that smoking isn't the only bad habit a man can develop. As Spring becomes Summer, the urge to actively hunt and kill grows stronger. A businessman by day becomes a ruthless killer by night. This story was loosely based on real events in a Mid-West city back in 1974. The author knew the man in passing, but during the course of events, he was called in as a paramedic responding to one of the murder scenes he left behind. Several years later, they would meet again when the author was working in a maximum security Psych Ward of a major Midwest prison.
