The author ventures into the genre of hard science fiction in this novella that takes place after the end of the Second Century PA (Post-Apocalypse). Humankind has rebuilt upon the fragments of its past after a devastating cosmic collision nearly decimated the planet. Civilization now engages routinely in inner-solar space flight, with interstellar a tantilizing challenge. When deep-space probes identify a planet just seven-and-a-half light years away that would likely sustain life as we know it, controversy rages worldwide over whether planetary colonization is fantasy or a reasonable step toward preserving humanity in the event of another impact that might extinguish it forever. Given the chance, would there be pioneering souls brave or foolish enough to go on a one-way trip into the barely known? Who would we want to send?
