Henri Coudreau (1859-1899) published this book of vocabulary lists for four indigenous Amazonian languages in 1892, following his three lengthy expeditions to French Guyana. The lexical and syntactic data he recorded for the Ouayana, Aparai, Oyampi (Carib) and Emerillon (Guarani-Tupi) languages represented a huge advance on previous publications.
