Poison Roots takes place at a tree nursery in south Texas. The mystery revolves around the ingenious and devious ways they hide their drugs and distribution of the drugs. A series of accidental discoveries, underground tunnels, unusual buildings, a helicopter pad, off beat customers, colorful co-workers and the disappearance of dozens of Mexican young men set Val the main character off on a sleuthing adventure. Val befriends Jessie May a new employee and together they snoop and spy. Their boss, Bell thinks the girls are so stupid they won't catch on to the murders and drug deals. Big mistake! Together, Val and Jessie May plot and plan, and become so caught up in the clues that they must face the danger to solve the mystery.
