Battle Captain

Daily we are reminded that somewhere in a far-off land there are young Americans in battle gear whose duty it is to protect and project our nation's interests in a hostile environment. The outcome of their battles in war invariably hangs on three constants: the courage of the soldiers, the character of their leaders, and the excellence of well trained units of which they are a part. Battle Captain is a superb account of combat in the company of similar soldiers and leaders a generation ago in Vietnam; no grand strategy, no operational level schemes; just some well trained units, their courageous soldiers and their outstanding young leaders of whom Sewall Menzel was among the foremost.
