Eliza Lee Cabot Follen (1787 -1860) was an American author. Her books include The Well-Spent Hour (Boston, 1827); The Skeptic (1835); Poems (1839); To Mothers in the Free States (1855); Anti-Slavery Hymns and Songs (1855); Twilight Stories (1858); and Home Dramas (1859). True Stories about Cats and Dogs begins with a mother talking to her boys about the nature of cats and dogs. The anecdotes are told in a narrative form. The stories are short and often have a lesson to be learned. This is an excellent book for children who love animals.
