Ambrosia: a Collection of Poems

This is the first book in a series. Ambrosia: A collection of Poems. This work takes the reader into all aspects of love, life and spirituality, yet leaves the door open for imagination. In this dynamic piece of literally artistry, the author, Christopher Carter, takes us into a world of love and life; His love for God, Family, Self and the one who is Ambrosia has given him a new prospective and a renewed spirit. He shares his innermost thoughts concerning failed relationships and life lessons; but discovers the ultimate prize; love. Love is patient, it is kind, it does not envy, boast and is not rude, it is not self seeking or easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs. He understands that love never fails, but even when he has failed or lost faith, hope or love. Love has always prevailed. Ambrosia is a work torn between youth, acceptance, and the author coming into his own as a man; Christopher shares his fears, his insecurities, anger and guilt concerning God, Family and self. Ambrosia is a reminder that love comes in all forms. This collection of poems breathes fire, expresses strength and determination, shows perseverance, and carries heartfelt sorrow. Christopher Carter was a 17 year old undergraduate at California State University, Long Beach in 1989. I watched as he matured not only as a man but as a student; and especially as a writer. Credit for these series of works should go to Brook sie Amos (BAM), Christopher's grandmother who would always tell him that he had a special gift as a writer and Dr. James Robinson, Associate Professor of African American Studies at California State University, Long Beach who would challenge the young undergraduates' writing style, Dr. Robinson encouraged him to believe in self and to understand what it meant to be the best. Over 20 years have passed and Christopher has come into his own as a writer and as a man. He has had a personal journey unlike most and a profession
