Oil in Your Lamp

Men have been anticipating Jesus' return since he came over 2,000 years ago. It has been so long that most tend to live as though the end is a long way off. If the end time were to come upon us suddenly, would we be prepared for what might be required of us? Jesus illustrated his return using a parable of ten virgins who were waiting through the night for the groom to come for his bride. Only five of them had enough oil for their lamps to keep the light burning while they waited. Jesus is returning in the darkest hours of the night. This will be a time of wickedness where the light of God will be void, except what we have stored up within us prior to total darkness. How do we store up for this dark time? What do we need to store? How do we know if we are prepared to make it through the night so that we will not miss our Lord when he comes? Are we ready?
