Scientists at a government lab in West Virginia attempt to create a small black hole. The experiment goes awry and they open a door to another universe instead. Strange and deadly creatures escape. Frank Ballard worries about his wife Elizabeth who suddenly exhibits unusual actions. She is killed by a drunken driver before his eyes and he sees her ghost leave her body. His world becomes a living nightmare as he joins forces with a secretive government agent, John Smith. Together, they attempt to save the world from an invading alien horde out to conquer the earth and make it their own.
