The Children of Silence - Or, The Story of the Deaf

"The Children of Silence; Or, The Story of the Deaf" is an 1887 guide to deafness written by Joseph A. Seiss. Originally written for the author's own benefit as the Director of the "Pennsylvania Institution for the Deaf and Dumb", this guide contains a great deal of general information, making it an ideal introduction to the subject for those with little or no previous knowledge. Contents include: Causes of Adventitious Deafness", "The Sad Condition of the Deaf", "What can be Done for the Deaf", "Early Efforts in Behalf of the Deaf", "Modern Institutions", "Table of Institutions in the World", and "Synopsis of the Whole". Joseph Augustus Seiss (March 18, 1823 - June 20, 1904) was an American theologian and Lutheran minister most famous for his contributions to pyramidology and dispensationalism. His best-known work is "The Great Pyramid of Egypt, Miracle in Stone: Secrets and Advanced Knowledge" (1877), considered a primary text of pyramidology. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with the original text and artwork.
