For as long as Rita could remember, she was different. Born with a facial deformity that required several surgeries to improve, she faced many challenges because of other people's prejudices. Rita's strong will and perseverance helped channel her pain into productive goals. Driven by a desire to succeed, she determined to prove all those who doubted her wrong. Her journey to fulfillment took her from beautiful St. Lucia all the way to bustling New York City and beyond. Along the way there was hardship and happiness, uncertainty and joy, and a final, unexpected destination-forgiveness.
