Publisher Marketing: A crazed gunman is on a rampage. He has already hit the health clinic in the small foothill community of Pineville. Eluding police, he races to his next target. Meanwhile, Sonia and Wendy Bennet are enjoying a special lunch at Toby's Diner. Sonia hopes Eddie, her fiancee and cook's assistant, will be able to join them. A middle-aged man with a briefcase enters the diner. He talks his way past the cashier, walks behind the breakfast bar and through the swinging door into the back offices. Gunshots shatter the hum of conversation, sending customers diving for cover and Wendy into hysterics. A man in a white shirt dives through the serve-through window, sending plates crashing to the floor. He scrabbles up the aisle and sits beneath the cash register. It's Eddie. He catches Sonia's eye and whispers a single word: "Run!" Wendy has curled into a ball and seems to be in a state of shock. If Sonia runs, she will have to somehow persuade her sister to go with her. She wants Eddie to come with them, also. Their lives are at stake. Run or stay. Whatever Sonia decides, she must do so quickly. The only certainty is that the killer will reenter the dining room at any moment, and the clock is ticking.
