An awkward and clumsy boy befriended by an aging wizard, Jorem learns much of the world as it is and as it was. Although the prince has no magical powers of his own, he finds in the wizard a friend and a mentor. His fondest wish is to join his brothers on the field of battle with honor and might. But all is not as it seems and life has a way of revealing the truth. Jorem must choose his own path and find his own way in an unfamiliar world. Standing alone and doing what is right could cost him all of the comforts of royal life. But by following his heart and the wisdom of his friend, a young boy just might be able to save a kingdom. After his debt is paid the young prince is unsure what to do until opportunity presents itself. Changing both his appearance and his name Jorem goes in search of a new life. The chance to learn from one of the fiercest fighters ever known is not something to be taken lightly. Surely his training in sword work would give him an edge (good pun, right). So how does he end up flat on his back with a sword to his throat? Can he learn to be a true warrior from a teacher with no patience and anger management issues? The coming war brings many changes to the kingdom, most of them bad. By ordered of the king Jorem must lead men on a mission aimed more to keep him out of the way than to accomplish anything. He must earn the trust of a people who have lost all at the order of his father, a people who still think of him as the spare. When he finds himself faced with an enemy force out of his deepest nightmares, Prince Jorem will have to rely on the help of some unlikely heroes. Betrayal and deceit are just a few of the challenges coming his way. With the help of friends both new and old Jorem will have to find a way to overcome not only the enemies secret army but the uncertainties and insecurities that come with a boy newly become a man. Contributor Bio: Southwick, Michael G Born and raised in southeast Idaho I attended Ricks colledge and Brigham Young University. I have an engineering degree and have worked as a manufacturing engineer for many years. I have coached youth baseball and soccer as well as serving as a boy scout leader. I have been telling stories to my son and his friends for many years. This series of books is the first time, at my son's request, that I have written one down. My family and friends encouraged me to publish the story so I decided to give it a try. I've written many technical papers and procedures for private companies in my work as a manufacturing engineer. This story has been one that wouldn't let go of me and has been a joy to write.
