Most humans who subscribe to religious thought believe that death is only the end of our physical existence that our souls continue, remaining alive in spirit form, until such time as it is given eternal life or destroyed by God at the end of time as we know it. At the end of physical time, the temporal nature of our existence ceases to affect our souls, as the soul's immortality renders linear time inapplicable. Or, perhaps there is no life after death, and our perception of reality, presence, or even dreaming ceases upon physical death. Perhaps there is only life or death; existence, or non- existence. We can only surmise, as not one human soul has come back to prove the existence of a previous or future lives. Faith and believe in God, a higher power, superior life forms and extraterrestrial civilizations with advanced technologies cause me to be concern about my vulnerability and ignorance to where I fit into the scheme of things in the spiritual world. I decided that praying could be a hedge against possible negative spiritual outcomes, as there certainly is evil abundantly displayed on a daily basis in this world.
