Planning, Deploying and Installing Data Protector 9: for the Datacentre, the Cloud and Remote Offices

Publisher Marketing: This very accessible book is a valuable resource for pre-sales, consultants, sysadmins and anyone involved in deploying a new instance of Data Protector. For resellers, distributors or HP staff involved in pre-sales it provides an overview of research into what the customer base has found valuable in Data Protector, and some in-depth coverage of some very common solution designs. For consultants and implementors this book provides step-by-step screenshots to implement Data Protector functions from scratch. The walk-throughs show much more detail than the HP-supplied manuals, and also provides guidance on what can go wrong and suggestions for good designs. It can be used as a course book for a one day face-to-face delivered class. Slides for instructors to use are available separately. Topics covered: Reasons customers choose Data Protector Areas of comparative weakness Installing Windows and Linux cell managers Agent deployment methods StoreOnce de-duplication Backing up filesystems Backing up VMware Backing up cloud-hosted servers Configuring tape drives Managing media Backups spooled via disk Remote office backups replicated to a central office Reporting There is also a chapter on the internal database schema -- content unique to this book -- to complement the content on backup and restore of the internal database. Contributor Bio:  Baker, Greg Debbie Clemmons was born in England and grew up in the states with four brothers. She traveled most of her life throughout the United States as her father was in the United States Air Force. She moved to Richmond, CA when she was 17 and eight years later, married Randy Brady Clemmons. Together they made their home in Pinole, CA with two boys. For over twenty five years, Debbie was an advertising executive with Bay Area billboard companies. She travelled and met with advertising agencies throughout the country to help execute advertising plans. At the time of Randy's diagnosis, she decided to keep track of the daily ins and outs of grappling with mesothelioma, because there wasn't a lot of personal information on patients before Randy's illness. She kept track of the events of thirty two months, in hope to help other mesothelioma patients when they become blindsided by their diagnosis. She hung on to her faith as this took such a toll on her strength, energy and mental health. During this time, her father and mother were also battling their illnesses. Even though life was hard, God always showed up to take care of the smallest details. So many daily miracles would appear and help would show up in the unexpected places. Not typically known for her writing skills, she decided to forge forward in hopes that this book will aid mesothelioma patients and also other people facing terminal illness. That they might find hope and comfort from Randy's experiences. She currently lives in Pinole, CA, finishing raising their two boys. She is changing career paths to include a path to help others battling with cancer or terminal diseases.
