Psalms of David
Pallikkunnan
Pallikunnan's Psalms of David which was banned in India. This book is being republished outside India: While going through Psalms of David, we are bled by the rapturous words of a reveller ridiculed by all, a marginalised story-teller. While this work was disregarded as mere prattle in public, the state banned it (on 9th February 1994), thereby balancing its mask. The insecurity in Kafka and Orwell with its entire belligerence is present in Pallikunnan's work. This work is not simply the reverie of an individual; here the repressed desires of a nation are reincarnated. Hence it was put under trial by India's Super-ego. However, by taking refuge in another space and language, this work is declaring its absolution.
