The Post Boy's Red Bicycle

The only thing Emily knows is that her father has left her. She doesn't know where he has gone or why. He had told her that he would be back soon, but he hadn't come back. She could only think that he must have lied and he must not have loved her. But, Emily is only eight years old and the only way she can have control over her feelings and her life is to cut herself off from the world in which she lives. How could her mother explain to Emily and comfort her, after all, she too had been left behind with the emptiness and longing. In addition to trying to cope with her own emotions she had the turmoil of trying to bring her daughter back to the world from which she had closed herself off.
