Julia is living the dream. She and her best friend Kali have graduated from high school, grabbed their surfboards and their savings, and have opened a café in the beach town where they spent their summers as kids, with plans for Café Curl to become a haven for LGBT youth; not just a place to hang out and have coffee while surrounded by the expressions of local artists, but a studio space where that art can actually be created. Getting the café up and running has been challenging, but it is Julia's other dreams that have her really worried, specifically the one in which God tells her that he wants her to have a child. For any garden-variety virgin this would be a feat, but for Julia, a transgender lesbian, pregnancy would indeed take a miracle. Julia isn't sure whether or not she believes in God or miracles, but to survive what is coming, what Julia might need most, is an introduction to the love that surrounds her, and a little belief in her true and authentic self.
