Travis "Cream City" Bridges is a Milwaukee high school basketball star and the first-round draft pick of the Milwaukee Bucks after their NBA Championship season. So when he is accused of the murder of a white female classmate, the city begins to simmer with racial hysteria. There's rioting in the streets with a further tragic outcome.

It's up to defense attorney Sydney Hirsch to defend Travis, and she must unravel the chain of events leading to the murder. Sydney slowly and methodically uncovers a secret that could threaten Travis's professional basketball career, as it could have been Travis's motive to kill his classmate.
