There is no other building like Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood in the world. Everything from the ground up was made by hand. The timbers were hand hewn by adz and broad ax. The metal work found throughout the lodge was made from recycled scrap metal using hand tools without welding, bolts or rivets. The fireplace screens were fashioned using recycled tire chains. The andirons in each of the fireplaces were made from recycled railroad rails. Nothing went to waste. The newels on the stairs are recycled cedar telephone poles, each carved to feature a different bird or animal. The fabrics throughout the lodge were hand woven and hand hooked from recycled fabrics. They made the beds, the chairs, the tables, the curtains, the carpets, the sheets and blankets used in every room throughout the 55,000 square foot lodge. What was accomplished at Timberline is truly amazing. Timberline is one of my special places and I'm not alone. Each year millions of visitors come to Timberline. It is my sincere hope everyone enjoys my coloring pages as much as I enjoyed drawing them.
