Anastasia McCadden was the seventh child born to Francis McCadden and Catherine Tracy of Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. She was known by her family and friends as Anna. She would meet and later marry William Thomas Burleigh, a bank cashier at the Clinton County Savings Bank in Plattsburgh. They would have five children who were all born in Plattsburgh. William would later become a partner in the insurance firm of Heffernan and Burleigh which he helped operate for many years. He also would hold many public positions among them being a Plattsburgh Village Assessor and Trustee, a Plattsburgh Public Library Trustee and was appointed chief engineer and later fire chief of the Plattsburgh Fire Department.
