Sermons Chiefly on the Interpretation of Scripture.
Thomas Arnold
First published in 1845, these 47 sermons of Thomas Arnold were collected mainly from those preached between 1832 and 1840; and were chosen with a view to the illustration of Scripture, "either by explaining certain passages or portions of the sacred volume, or by stating some general rules of interpretation which may apply to the whole of it."Having been mostly preached in the chapel at Rugby, these Sermons were necessarily of a practical character; but it will be found that they all bear more or less upon Interpretation. Sermons cover Scripture from Genesis to Revelation, and included within this volume are seven sermons on the Epistle to the Romans, preached by Arnold at Laleham in 1827. These remain the most continuous exposition of any large portion of the Scriptures which remain among his writings. Topics covered include: Creation, Fall, Wars of Israelites, Balaam, Jael, the Disobedient Prophet, Job, Psalms, John the Baptist, the Second Birth, Christ's Miracles, Christ's Parables, Christ's Divinity, Christ's Words and Work, Christ's Resurrection, St. Paul, the Ancient Church, Gifts of the Spirit, Wills, St. James, St. John and the Holy Trinity (amongst others). This republication is a Cameron Collectible. Other titles may be found at: www. Cameron-Collectibles.blogspot.com
