Theodore Roosevelt (1858 - 1919) was an author, explorer and historian who achieved fame during the Spanish-American War for his role in the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry (better known as the "Rough Riders"). Prior to becoming President after William McKinley's assassination, Roosevelt served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy and as the Governor of New York. This work brings together President Roosevelt's eight State of the Union Addresses delivered between 1901 and 1908.
