Gramma' for Grandma is a free verse poetry style book. These poems are sequenced in story form in order to deliver a power reflection of the life of the Author, TyQun Harris-Oxendine. While paying homage to his late grandmother Viola Oxendine in the dedication and in many of the poems such as "Missing from the frame" " The Answer" and "Words?" to name a few the illustrations bring to life a boy's pain, joy and hunger while on his journey to manhood. These emotions seem to come from wanting to be more in life while battling the understanding of God and the worldly evils that we as mankind seem to face each and every day. This book also delivers a perspective of the many views the author has on society from his eyes all while including a number of personal experiences to paint a picture of his life. Through the details of his life dealings, paying homage to the women that raised him, and offering a creative spin on the idea of a life story through free verse poetry the Author delivers an enjoyable therapeutic effort throughout this book. Overall, the reader can almost guarantee a very transparent story of someone at odds on his journey to figure out how to create and understand obstacles towards change.
