Twisted Oaths

In 1064, before William the Bastard changed England forever, Bernaart, a fourteen-year-old boy, lived a sheltered life in an abbey in Normandy. He is torn from his comfortable roots and taken to Hastings, England, where he must learn their ways or die. Sold into slavery, shackled, friendless, and not knowing the language, he faces innumerable challenges, including the spite and distain of the daughter of the town's reeve. Twisted Oaths examines the heart of Bernaart and the Anglo Saxons, and what an oath means.
