Until consciousness is fully developed, it remains a question. It is the mystery that drives us. Self-enquiry is a process of asking questions, not to elicit answers but to jog our memory and awaken us from self-deception.
There is no point to self-enquiry but there is a circumference. It is the circle or circuit of the Force of consciousness. When the circuit is complete, we build the soul. We know ourselves. Self-enquiry leads to self-knowledge.
To formulate a question properly you really need an intuitive grasp of the answer. I am reminded of a mathematical equation where the equal sign serves as a mirror that reflects either side to the other. A question may be viewed as the reflection of its own answer. This is why a question is often more important than its answer. The question may determine the answer.
