Lessons in Leadership

Some are just starting their careers, while others have been in the trenches for many years and have lots of experience and tips to pass on to our next generation of emerging leaders. We hope by presenting each of these wonderful vignettes, it will perpetuate the kind of leadership in others that is needed in the 2lst century. Some questions that will be answered are: "How do you get everyone on the same page?" With more baby boomers staying in the workforce, millennials and gen xers coming into the workforce, how does a leader navigate the terrain to maximize the strength of all the employees? About the Authors:

PATRICIA MITCHELL is chair of the Department of Leadership at the School of Education, University of San Francisco. She received her undergraduate degree from Morgan State College, a master's degree from Southern Illinois University, and her Ph. D. from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D. C. Dr. Mitchell received the 2015 University of San Francisco, St. Ignatian award for her exceptional service to students, the University and the community at large. This award is in recognition of creativity and commitment to the realization of the religious and moral legacy of St. Ignatian. She has authored and co-authored several inspiring and practical books on leadership.

SILVIA RAMIREZ is a native of San Francisco. As a Stanford University, University of California, Santa Cruz and the University of San Francisco alum, she continues to volunteer in her community; works as a K-5 educator and teacher trainer. She currently resides in Sonoma County with her family. Her on-going research includes Reflections on Administrative Lessons in Education, and has published several articles, co-authored and co-edited three books on the impact of leaders transforming organizations. She has also presented at the Hawaii International Conference on Education and was recently recognized for her contributions to the USF School of Education.
