My Life on and around Salisbury Plain

This book is a warts and all autobiography of Johnny Stokes, who has lived and worked all his life around Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire. He talks about growing up just after the war, the journey to adulthood, life as a farmer and building lorries that went on safari in Africa. During his adventure there has been plenty of action, from exploits of how the family nearly killed Churchill, coping with weather on the plain, runaway vehicles, building his own house, to his many inventions, some of which have changed all our lives. Life has not been without challenge, living with an aneurism and not to mention the family! Johnny doesn't hold back with his opinions (ala Jeremy Clarkson), but anyone who meets him can't help but enjoy his debates. Be very afraid politicians, vicars, criminals, teenagers and call centre staff in India. It will take a few pages to get used to his West Country speak but you'll soon be transported to a bygone world of the old values, real work and proper fun.
