Forgetting What Is Behind

Maddie Durbin has been hiding a secret since high school. Leaving Rockford she moves to Prairie Junction, Illinois, where she becomes the new librarian in the public school system. She rents an upstairs apartment in an old Victorian style house and settles in comfortably. When Colin Campbell, a nephew of her landlady, moves in with his widowed aunt, he reveals to Maddie that the house may have been part of the Underground Railroad at one time. As the two search for clues in the house, a relationship begins to develop between them, but Maddie is worried that if they were to get serious, she would have to confide her secret, and she is determined not to do that. Is her secret more important than a relationship with Colin? And does the house have secrets of its own? Joyce Winters has been writing stories and poems since childhood. She has had over 100 articles, short stories and poems published in addition to five other full length inspirational novels. Let Your Light So Shine, My Refuge and Strength and A New Creation were published by Xulon Press. She was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. Her adult life was spent with her husband Wally in Christian service with The Salvation Army in the Upper Midwest. She is now retired and living in Northern Illinois, giving her the backdrop for this book set in the fictional town of Prairie Junction in Northwestern Illinois.
